About Sandra
Sandra approaches photography as she approaches life; with great energy and intense focus. She believes that photographs should capture real moments from life -- joyful or sad or thoughtful, they aim to capture a truth, often telling a rich story with her imagery. She aims to put her subjects at ease, knowing that in this way she is able to bring out the spirit inside of her subjects. Sandra knows from her years behind the camera that most people have an aversion to having their picture taken and fear that the result will be unkind. She tackles this challenge with delight and always seems able to capture her subject’s true personalities and special moments.
Sandra began taking pictures as a young girl. She was the photo editor of her yearbook, shooting her own yearbook self-portraits as well as those for many of her friends. In college she was a photo editor at the Harvard Crimson and spent a summer interning for a photographer at the NY Daily News, taking pictures at NY Giants training camp and the US Tennis Open. Sandra has years of experience photographing theatrical productions for Rattlestick Playwrights Theater, the Nightingale Bamford School, as well as many others. Her images have been featured in all of the major print newspapers in the tri-state area, on entertainment websites, in published plays and books, as well as several national and international magazines.
Sandra did her undergraduate studies at Harvard and received her law degree from NYU School of Law. She is the President of the Oyster Bay Main Street Association and of the Frederic R. Coudert Foundation, and also sits on the Alumni Board of the NYU School of Law and on the board of the Cancer Research Institute. Sandra and her husband Todd have twin boys, John and James, who have become two of her favorite subjects. In addition to juggling twins, Sandra is focusing on photography, philanthropy, and producing commercial theater.
